ASSOCIATIONAL STRUCTURE
Our Trade Evolution
The MTA is an organization
exclusively for franchised motor brands representatives
who are directly engaged in motor trading on the market
in Hong Kong. The main function is to have a collective
representation to communicate with the authorities,
media and overseas trade and industry organizations, to
promote the harmony amongst all members. It accepts membership on a brand basis, any company holding multi
franchises are invited to join as separate members. By
2023, the association has 41 Full Members. Every year, at
the annual general meeting, a panel of seven committee
members are elected. The executive committee will
meet every month to review and process matters related
to the motor industry.
The association also has subsidiary associations focusing
on auto parts (Auto Parts Management Association) and
on Service (Service Management Association). These two
associations contribute their expertise in their respective
fields and reports to the MTA chairman.

"I am honoured and humbled to be elected to serve as the new chairman of The Motor Trade Association (MTA) of Hong Kong in its 65th anniversary year.
The MTA, Hong Kong's longest-established and most respected auto industry organisation, has played a key role in driving change and modernisation across the sector.
As a 20-year motoring industry veteran, it has been a privilege and a pleasure to witness the positive impact made by the MTA at all levels. Looking ahead, with the EV sector set to expand significantly, and other sustainable transport advances coming on-stream fast, the next 12 months promise to be exciting and groundbreaking and I look forward to continuing MTA's legacy of success.
My election as chairman was built on the support and mentoring of many industry leaders and partners, and I offer my heartfelt thanks to all of you. Your insights, ideas, and advice have been invaluable, and I am confident that MTA's collaborative spirit and progressive outlook will ensure our sector is well set to thrive in 2024 and beyond."

“It’s my pleasure and great honour to work with all the MTA members. In view of the current and coming big revolutionary changes in our industry with the introduction of EV and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, it is essential that all the MTA members work even closer to face the coming challenges. The new challenges include amendments to road regulation, subsidy programs for EV and fuel cell vehicles, etc. Another focus area is to push the registration of mechanics from a voluntary to a mandatory basis. Let’s work together hand in hand to strive for the best interest of the whole industry.”
